ALMA Conditions & Actions for Content Notes

  1. If you have contents requested; and the contents are already in the record, no additional action is required.
  2. If the IZ record in Alma does not have contents, first check OCLC again. Content notes may have been added since the record was downloaded. If so, overlay.
    1. If there is a NZ record which we want to use, but lacks contents, upgrade the record, but also make sure that the OCLC record is also upgraded, if it is not.
  3. If the catalog record, is otherwise in good condition yet lacks content notes in OCLC, add them*. Refer the book to Scott D. so that he can check them, then the title can be exported or overlayed in Alma as the case may be.
  4. If the catalog record is very low grade, it probably needs the attention of the original cataloger. Refer to the cataloger (who will add contents in the course of the upgrade).
  5. If there is no record for the item in OCLC, see previous sentence.

*Condition 3 involves Locking and Replacing a bibliographical record in OCLC. If you do not have experience with the function in Connexion, See Cataloger for guidance.
