The Connection Manager in ILLiad keeps track of any system errors that occur during the process of sending and receiving Interlibrary Loans. The number of errors in the manager should be kept to a minimum at all times.
“Alert” Errors
An alert error occurs when another library wants to attract our attention to an item. Usually, these have already been handled by the time the Connection Manager is opened. To process these errors:
- Check to see if there are any messages that still need a response in the request. If there is a message, reply accordingly.
- Clear the error by hitting the “Connection Manager Error” button on the red band.
Receive Not Allowed Here
This error occurs because the OCLC status of the item had not been changed to send by the time the item was received.
- Check to be sure the item was received.
- If not, contact the library from which it should have been sent.
- If so, clear the error by hitting the “Connection Manager Error” button on the red band.
Record Not Found
This error occurs because the OCLC record cannot be found. These errors should be cleared and ignored, and the request should be processed as normal.
Return Not Allowed Here
This error occurs because the OCLC status of the item was not marked to “received” before the return was attempted.
- Check to be sure the item was/is shipped back to the school from which it was received.
- Clear the error.
The Connection Timed Out
This error typically follows a Record Not Found error and should be cleared and ignored.
Update Error
This error occurs when a glitch in the system prevents the status of an item from being properly changed.
- Check to be sure the status of the item is correct and fix if it is not.
- Clear the error.
Doc Del Error
This error occurs if an item is placed in the Document Delivery Queue in ILLiad.
- Check to make sure the item is in the proper place (in processing or received). If not, move to the appropriate status.
- Clear the error.
Complete Not Allowed Here
This error occurs if the OCLC status of an item is not marked “shipped” when it is returned to us.
- Make sure the request status is Request Finished or Delivered to Web.
- Clear the error.
Renewal Not Allowed Here
This error occurs if the OCLC status does not indicate the item has been received from the correct library.
- Check to be sure the item is at the library we sent it to or in our possession.
- Clear the error.
Recall Not Allowed Here
This error occurs if the OCLC status of the item does not indicate we sent the item to the borrowing library.
- Make sure we sent the item to the library in question.
- Clear the error.
