Getting Loans Back to the Resource Sharing Office

When patrons return items, they rarely return them directly to the Resource Sharing Office.  Instead, these returns pass through branch libraries, the mail room, or the circulation desk before they arrive in our office.  When items do reach our office, it is important to check them in in a timely fashion so the patron record is as up-to-date as possible and so our Interlibrary Loan colleagues can have their items back quickly.

Cooper Returns

Items that pass through Cooper Library’s circulation desk are kept on a shelf in the circulation office.  These items should be picked up at least twice a day to keep the shelf from over-filling.

Branch Library Returns

Items that pass through branch libraries will be picked up by the library courier and will arrive in the mail room.  They will typically arrive around 3pm each day.  These items should be fetched when the mail is picked up.

Mail Room Returns

Items that pass through the mail room should be picked up with the mail at least once a day.
