Monograph Purchasing

If all borrowing options are exhausted and you can find it available for purchase online, it is acceptable to order a monograph. You can order either via Acquisitions or Amazon.

Ordering via Acquisitions

If the patron doesn’t need the item in less than 10 days, place a rush order through Acquisitions. This method is preferred because it ensures that the item is added to the collection and simplifies circulation. If the patron loses an item added before circulation then we can charge them, too.

  1. Visit the “Submit a Materials Order Request” page.
  2. Fill out the form with as much information as you have
    1. Write your name in the “Selector” field.
    2. Write “ILL” in the “Fund Code” field.
    3. Check the “Rush Request” box.
    4. If it is for a faculty member, check the “Faculty Request” box.
    5. Use the “Notes/Source” field to put a link to Amazon (or wherever you find the book) as well as the name of the faculty member who requested it.
  3. ILL staff will then send a message to the patron letting them know that their request is being purchased and they will be contacted when the item is available.
  4. When the book is processed, Acquisitions will send the book to Circulation to be put on hold and will ask Circulation to alert the patron.
