New digital collection of fossil specimens from Bob Campbell Geology Museum

In partnership with the Bob Campbell Geology Museum, we are hosting images of their fossil specimens collected from around the world on our digital collections website. Some of their fossils date back to the Cambrian period, which makes them almost 520 million years old! The online collection holds about 2,000 images and will expand as they send us more. You can see more here:

The image I’ve included for the announcements is a screenshot of our mapping interface showing the geographic location of the fossils when they were found in the United States.

Alma/Primo Vanguard Update

Stay up-to-date on the Alma/Primo implementation activities at Clemson at our website, The password for the PASCAL SLSP website is available here, as well.

Every Tuesday at 2pm, PASCAL SLSP staff will be available to answer questions in an open Zoom meeting during their SLSP “Office Hours.” The weekly session is open to all participating libraries. This will be an opportunity for members to compare notes on form(s) being completed, share best practices, discuss upcoming meeting preparation, etc. With the Vanguard Phase beginning this month, we anticipate that the meetings will initially be more focused on the work being done by the Vanguard institutions, however this will certainly expand as other libraries begin migration work. Any interested members are welcome to participate. The permanent Zoom link for SLSP Office Hours is

With the official close of the Onboarding Phase in December, the Vanguard libraries have completed a variety of draft migration forms and extracted data from their current systems. All of these are being reviewed by Ex Libris to provide feedback in advance of the complete data extraction and then loading into Alma and Primo over the coming months. The Vanguard Phase will officially begin with the Kickoff Meeting on Wednesday, January 9th.

As part of the transition from the Onboarding Phase to the Vanguard Phase, PASCAL worked with Ex Libris to generate updated timelines for both the Vanguard Phase and the full implementation phase for all participating libraries. Members may review the Vanguard Phase timeline and a Full Implementation timeline on the SLSP website (login required):
