Journal Club 3/29

The next meeting of the Libraries Journal Club will be held Friday, March 29, from 10-11AM in Cooper 103. This informal group is open to any interested student workers, staff, or faculty that would like to discuss current library trends. “Membership” in the group is completely voluntary; you can come to any meeting whether or not you’ve been to any previous meetings, just make sure to read the article first.

Jan Comfort chose this week’s article, which is:
Williams, G. (2019). Mentoring Mid-Career: Reflections on Fostering a Culture of Mentorship for Experienced Librarians. Journal of Academic Librarianship, 45(2), 171–173.

Feel free to share this with other library folks. Jan is bringing donuts, so you might want to grab a beverage on your way. I’ll see you there!

Pride Living Library Event

Challenge stereotypes, make connections, and celebrate diversity through discussion and awareness!

A Living Library event will be held in Cooper on Thursday, March 28th from 5-7pm.

Human Libraries aim to facilitate dialogue and understanding between people, or “books,” who have volunteered to discuss their real life experiences with “readers.” Come by Cooper to check out a different kind of book and chat about topics such as gender, local natural resources, sexuality, comic books, cultural shame, religion, relationships, farming, and more with other members of the campus community.

Two of our own staff members have agreed to be human books for this event, so please come by to support your peers as well as the campus LGBTQ+ community. Check out other events on the Pride calendar, as well!
