Strom Thurmond Collection

Negotiations between Clemson University and US Senator Strom Thurmond culminated on October 29, 1981, when University President Bill L. Atchley and Strom Thurmond signed the official donation agreement for his papers.   The Strom Thurmond Collection (Mss 100) is open for public use in the Special Collections and Archives and documents the 77 year career of James Strom Thurmond and members of his family and staff.   The collection is arranged in the series listed below with links to their descriptive guides detailing what is in the collection.   While most of the collection is available only in paper format, the Special Collections and Archives is working on digitizing portions of the collection for access online.
