It’s gotten a little harder to find the Strom Thurmond Institute building, home of the Special Collections Library, when coming from the main part of campus. With construction underway for the Watt Family Innovation Center, the entrance on the north/Cooper Library side of the Strom Thurmond Institute has been closed and the area between Cooper and STI is fenced off.
Coming from Cooper Library, use the steps on the right side of STI to get to the new second floor entrance on the parking lot side of the building. Or use the steps on the left side of STI to get to the first floor entrance on the parking lot side.
As the photo above taken during the construction of Cooper Library in 1965 reminds us, construction is a way of life on a college campus. Below is a photo of the same area taken on May 9, 2014.
