Transferring an External File of Barcodes to a Review File

To transfer a file of barcodes to a review file:

  1. Open Notepad++
  1. Ensure each barcode appears on its own line
  1. Add the prefix n: to each barcode
    1. Select Search > Replace (Ctrl+H)
    2. Enter caret character (^) in Find what text field
    3. Enter n: in Replace with text field
    4. Select Regular expression option in Search Mode area
    5. Click Replace All button

  1. If Offline Circulation is not already installed, install it
    • This program can be downloaded from G:\Software\(Millennium)Offline circulation
    • Enter libcat.clemson.edu into the Server domain name/IP address field

  1. Save the barcode file in the C:\Millennium\Offline directory as circ.dat
    • Select ‘Yes’ for the ‘Do you want to replace it?’ question

  1. In Offline Circulation, select File > Upload circulation and patron data
    • Select ‘Yes’ for the ‘Is the server ready to receive data?’ and ‘Clear circulation file?’ questions
    • File uploaded to /iiidb/circbatch directory on libcat.clemson.edu with the name format of rdiMMDDHHMMSS
  1. In the Millennium character-based-system (aka INNOPAC), navigate to the Transfer file of barcodes to a Review File option (C > P > C > T)
    • This functionality requires authorization number 51
  1. Select an empty review file by entering its line number
  1. Name the file and press the Enter key
  1. Choose the barcodes (rdi) file to transfer by entering its line number
  1. Once the transfer is complete, remove the barcodes (rdi) file
  1. Locate file in Create Lists by name for no initials or date will be associated with it
